Share Our Spare (April 2024)
50 volunteers will be helping sort and inventory donations of baby and toddler essentials for children in need across Chicago.
Note: in addition to registering through this Eventbrite, you must also complete a separate Eventbrite/waiver from Share Our Spare by April 11th at 5pm, available at this link. The registration link also includes a follow-up email with all the pertinent information about how to park and access the space.
Volunteers are welcome to bring: gently used children’s clothing, books, or small gear items (strollers, bassinets, pack n plays) or donations of (new) baby bottles, diapers, wipes, or baby hygiene items (diaper rash creams, soaps, and lotions). Alternatively, volunteers can purchase items from Share Our Spare's Amazon Registry and the items will go directly to Share Our Spare.
Afterwards, we'll head to the afterparty at Eris Brewery and Cider House (4240 W Irving Pk Rd) at 1pm!

Asian Youth Services (April 2024)
20 volunteers will organize donations and tidy up the space used for AYS's afterschool program.
Volunteers are encouraged to donate food and other items, including milk, eggs, bread, etc. as well as school supplies, books, cleaning supplies, canned or dry goods, children’s clothing, kitchen items such as pots and pans, and more. There is a huge need and some of these items will be given to new migrants and other families.

EveryWoman Project (March 2024)
VU purchased $3.3K of donations, with proceeds raised from Giving Tuesday, and packed and distributed them to schools and shelters focused on supporting women and children throughout the Chicago and Oak Park areas.
Cardz for Kidz (March 2024)
60 volunteers counted, reviewed, sorted, and packaged handmade cards which will be sent to senior living facilities, schools, patients' homes, hospitals, foster homes, members of the military, and more.

Care for Real (Feb 2023)
15 volunteers will be assisting with outdoor food distribution. You may be packing carts of food, bringing food outside to clients, packing bags, or stocking shelves.

Bags and Mats for Those in Need - January 2024
60 volunteers made recycled sleeping mats for migrants and unhoused populations in Chicago out of plastic bag yarn!
CCRx - January 2024
55 volunteers made 600 notebooks made of recycled notebooks and diecut recycled vinyl!
Amnesty International - December 2023
20 volunteers supported Amnesty International’s annual One is Write for Rights campaign, writing on 10 cases of human rights defenders who've been selected by their researchers.
Cardz for Kidz - December 2023
50 volunteers counted, reviewed, wrote, and packaged cards, which were sent to senior living facilities, schools, patients' homes, hospitals, foster homes, members of the military, and more.
Special Olympics - December 2023
25 volunteers supported the Special Olympics Chicago Showshoe Competition by time keeping, recording results, escorting athletes, and administering awards.
Giving VUesday 2023
Volunteering Untapped Chicago and EveryWoman Project - Chicago Chapter have teamed up to raise $2,500 to pack 1,000 hygiene and toiletry bags to be dispersed among 23+ shelters, organizations, and schools with high homeless populations across Chicago.
Share our Spare - November 2023
55 volunteers helped sort and inventory donations of baby and toddler essentials for children in need across Chicago.
SparkShop - November 2023
40 volunteers packed 600 boxes full of crucial supplies for 4th and 5th grade students that supported SparkShop's mission of bringing STEM education to Chicago youth.

Red Line Service Institute- October 2023
12 volunteers are led an artmaking workshop with community members in North Lawndale. Volunteers supported workshop set up and ran the welcome and food service tables. Other activities included planting seeds and lead art activities for the workshop
Neighborhood Scavenger Hunt
We partnered with Chicago for Chicagoans, a non-profit organization that is dedicated to educating Chicagoans about the history of their own city. 40 of us broke into teams and went on a scavenger hunt in Uptown (one of the most historic and diverse neighborhoods in Chicago).
7th Anniversary Volunteer Celebration!
