We partnered with Heartland Human Care Services (formerly Heartland Alliance) for our anniversary once again.
We helped with maintenance around the farm and afterward enjoyed food and drinks, yard games, and good company.
ABOUT CHICAGO FARMWORKS / HEARTLAND HUMAN CARE SERVICES (HHCS)
Chicago FarmWorks is an 2.6-acre urban farm system located in East Garfield Park on the West Side of Chicago. This farm feeds the local community and is a pantry farm, providing fresh fruit and vegetables to low-income community members affected by HIV and AIDS.
The farm also allows a chance for transitional job participants (those dealing with barriers to employment, like housing insecurity, criminal justice involvement, and returning residents) a chance to work and coaching to find stable jobs.
In 2022, the farm produced over 32,000 servings of produce and provided over 165,000 nutritious meals.
